Sailboat racing hones your sailing skills. When you race in one of our weekly fleet races, you experience various weather conditions, learn what makes your boat move better, highlights your communication skills with your crew, and offers fun and excitement on the water!

Laser Fleet

A dedicated fleet of Laser owners race weekly throughout the summer. Boats are kept on dollies on the beach. If you have a Laser or would like to borrow one, the fleet is always welcoming. They arrange to race on the evening of the week that has the best wind and the most available sailors. If you would like to find out more, contact Mark Kastel.

Daysailer Fleet

Over the years, several Daysailer owners have led the organization of racing. At the present time, we don't have someone in that position. If you own a Daysailer and would like to get started, contact Commodore Brad Dinsmoor.

Keelboat Fleet

Cruising in your sailboat is just one of the many sailing pleasures. Traditionally, Thursday evenings have been keelboat racing nights. LAX Sailing has been the host for many Portsmouth handicapped races: series and regattas. If you would like to be part of the fun, contact Commodore Brad Dinsmoor.

Regattas

Regattas have been planned and executed by LAX members multiple times over the years. We have hosted Lasers, Sunfish, Daysailers, and Keelboats in National, Regional, and local events. Join us or be an active organizer!
